Day 1 – Melbourne to Mansfield
At 8am your local guide will pick you up from your accommodation and then set off on a wonderful tour starting with Benalla, known as the regional street art capital of Australia and is home to over 65 street art murals. Take a road of discovery on the Northeast Victoria Silo Art Trail, where you will experience art in a large scale and not in a gallery. Situated in the heart of Victoria’s bushranger country, the Benalla Art Gallery occupies a striking modernist building by the lake.
The Gallery presents a diverse exhibition program, while its collection spans three centuries of Australian art and includes outstanding examples of contemporary and Indigenous art. The Gallery’s permanent collection includes wonderful works by Arthur Streeton, Frederick McCubbin, Fred Williams, Sidney Nolan, and many other great Australian artists.
After lunch we then head to Mansfield where you will spend two nights in one of Victoria’s most beautiful luxury farm stays. Ideal for a romantic mid-week getaway, this hidden gem is set on 24 acres – a pygmy goat stud farm. Featuring breath taking views across the Barwite Valley down to the Broken River, be blown away by pink sunsets and starry nights. The pet alpacas and miniature pygmy goats are a cute bonus!
On arrival, the full-length glass window offers breathtaking 180-degree views of rugged mountains and kangaroos in abundance. Inspired as a luxury ‘ski chalet’, BullerRoo has a beautiful central bathroom designed for comfort and indulgence, a fully equipped state of the art kitchen, open plan dining and lounge area with oversized fireplace – and the homes crowning glory, the rooftop terrace opening up to the sky, with an outdoor dining space and BBQ to make full use of the solitude and nature.
Day 2 – Mansfield and High Country
In the morning float high above the earth on an optional sunrise hot air balloon flight across dreamy landscapes followed by a gourmet champagne breakfast designed with love by local chef Megan Knapp.
Afterwards, enjoy a lazy day “on the farm”, this place is absolutely tailor made for love, with options a plenty. Hours of lazy daydreaming or
watching native wildlife and cuddling adorable miniature Pygmy goats. Have drinks on the exclusive rooftop, stargazing in wonder at the incredible night-time panorama of the Milky Way.
Alternatively, spend the afternoon in the amazing King Valley visiting top class wineries and eateries that are passionate about producing top class food.
Day 3 – Mansfield to Melbourne
Our journey back to Melbourne takes us to one of the most beautiful drives in the state. The Black Spur cuts through the forest landscapes of the lush Yarra Ranges.
Gaze up at the immense mountain ash trees scattering sunlight on the cool understorey of green ferns below. Stop in the beautiful town of Marysville and visit Stevenson Falls, the largest in Victoria.
A short trip later finds us in the bustling town of Healesville. Visit the highly awarded Healesville Sanctuary to get up close and personal with
Australia’s famous wildlife.
From here it is just over an hour’s drive to central Melbourne where your journey of the High-Country ends.
Whatever season you visit, you’ll be spoiled with stunning scenery, warm welcomes and delectable food and wine. This is a trip that will live in the memory for a lifetime!
